Складно уявити сучасну молоду сім'ю, у якої не знайшлося би вдома пристрою з підтримкою Wi-Fi. Більш того, переважна більшість з вас має кілька смартфонів, а для роботи і розваг використовує планшет і/або ноутбук.

Технології бездротових мереж, за останні 10 років зробили дуже серйозний крок вперед. Якщо десять років тому, люди, які використовували бездротові карти 802.11b/g могли сміливо назвати себе першопрохідцями, то сьогодні підключенням звичайного ПК з бездротової мережі вже нікого не здивувати. Топові материнські плати часто комплектують вбудованим бездротовим адаптером.

Все це стало можливим завдяки появі та розвитку стандарту 802.11ac, який дозволяє здійснювати обмін даними на високих швидкостях. Сучасні адаптери 802.11ac без проблем можуть замінити звичайний Fast Ethernet 100 Мбіт. Звичайно, рівень реального 1 Гбіт досягти складно, але отримати 300-500 Мбіт при реальному обміні даними на сьогодні не складає особливих труднощів.

З технічної точки зору, планка 1 Гбіт вже взята, що стало можливим з появою стандарту 802.11ad, яскравий тому приклад – wAP 60G від Mikrotik, створений у співпраці з Qualcomm.

Рівень розвитку бездротових мереж досяг того рівня, коли швидкість обміну даними перестала бути основною перешкодою для використання бездротової мережі. У той же час, на перший план вийшла інша проблема – дальність зв'язку і площа покриття.

Той, хто знайомий з бездротовими мережами знає, що з ростом дальності і збільшенням кількості перешкод, швидкість підключення падає. Особливо це актуально для частоти 5 ГГц. Розумною межею для переважної більшості «домашніх» і SOHO-рішень є 2-кімнатна квартира, площею 60-100 квадратних метрів.

Звичайно, багато чого тут залежить від планування приміщень, матеріалів стін та їх обробки. З цієї причини, рівень сигналу і якість покриття в різних приміщеннях істотно відрізняється.

Так як же бути, якщо стоїть мета створити домашню бездротову мережу, здатну покрити більшу площу?

На ринку зараз є багато рішень, як готових, так і тих, з яких мережу можна побудувати самостійно. Основні фактори тут – це товщина гаманця клієнта і рівень знань в сфері сучасних цифрових технологій.

Серед готових рішень окремо можна згадати Eero, Luna і, звичайно ж, AmpliFi від Ubiquiti. Перші 2 системи не представлені на українському ринку взагалі, стосовно AmpliFi – на ринку вона є.

Є ще Mikrotik і Ubiquiti. У випадку з Mikrotik, вам буде потрібно самостійно налаштувати роутер і точки доступу, з CAPsMAN або без нього, процес налаштування буде непростий для звичайних пересічних користувачів.

Говорячи про рішення Ubiquiti UniFi, окремо доведеться докуповувати Cloud Key, або встановлювати контролер на окремий ПК. Знову ж, процес налаштування потребує певних знань від клієнта.

Сьогодні нам хотілося б поговорити про ще одну альтернативу – Google WiFi.

Раніше у нас вже був багатий досвід з безліччю маршрутизаторів і точок доступу, як звичайних «домашніх» виробників (Zyxel, D-Link, TP-Link, Linksys, Totolink, Netis і т.д.), так Mikrotik і Ubiquiti. Не так давно в нашому розпорядженні були пристрої UniFi Mesh і топовий комплект AmpliFi HD. Так що, як то кажуть, є з чим порівнювати.

Технічні характеристики і можливості Google WiFi

Почнемо, мабуть, з технічних характеристик. Пристрій можна придбати як окремо в одиничному екземплярі – роутер Google WiFi, так і комплектом з 3-х однакових пристроїв –Google Wifi Mesh System (set of 3). Само собою зрозуміло, купуючи комплект з 3-х пристроїв, ви економите пристойну суму.

У США орієнтовна вартість комплекту з 3-х пристроїв становить 299 доларів. Через пересилання і податки, собівартість комплекту в Україні буде щонайменше на 90-110 доларів вище. І тут виникає закономірне питання, чому ви повинні витрачати таку велику суму на бездротову мережу?

З цього приводу у нас були дискусії з різними технічно підкованими (і не дуже) людьми. Основний аргумент зводиться до того, що за таку суму можна придбати кілька звичайних роутерів і обставити ними весь будинок.

Можна привести зустрічний приклад. Зараз дуже популярні смартфони iPhone 6 і iPhone 7, за цю ж ціну можна придбати відразу кілька дуже хороших смартфонів. Проте, пристрої від Apple користуються дуже великим попитом.

Те ж саме і тут. Спробуємо розібратися, з чим пов'язана висока вартість Google WiFi?

Аргумент перший: всі пристрої з комплекту це повноцінні маршрутизатори. Так-так, тут немає помилки, всі пристрої з комплекту повністю ідентичні, і серед них немає «головного» пристрою в початковій конфігурації.

Це означає, що ви можете дістати з коробки будь-який з пристроїв і використовувати його як роутер. Більш того, ви можете встановити у себе 2 пристрої, а третій віддати або подарувати своєму другу. При цьому всі пристрої будуть повністю незалежні один від одного.

Кожен пристрій оснащений потужним 4-ядерним ARM-процесором, ядра якого працюють на частоті 710 МГц. У розпорядженні процесора є 512 мегабайт оперативної пам'яті і вбудоване сховище на 4 гігабайти. Таким обсягом оперативної пам'яті можуть похвалитися тільки найпродуктивніші рішення, в той час як переважна більшість маршрутизаторів початкового рівня мають на своєму борту 64 МБ і навіть менше – 32 або 16 МБ. Для «міцних середнячків» характерний обсяг в 128 МБ.

Великий обсяг оперативної і постійної пам'яті дозволяє тривалий час здійснювати випуск оновлень ПЗ, в тому числі зміну ядра, поступово додаючи в нього все більше функціональних можливостей. Потужний процесор і наявність великого обсягу оперативної пам'яті дозволяють одночасно запускати більшу кількість процесів, без втрати в продуктивності і без погіршення відгуку системи в цілому.

Аргумент другий: підтримка новітнього стандарту. Не всі до кінця розуміють, чому цей параметр настільки важливий. Вся справа в тому, що Google WiFi не зовсім звичайний роутер AC1200, він підтримує друге покоління стандарту 802.11ac – 802.11ac Wave 2.

Здавалося б, що тут такого? Але, коли доходить до справи, різниця між двома поколіннями стандартів просто величезна.

Почнемо з того, що в 802.11ac Wave 2 збільшено кількість доступних каналів в діапазоні 5 ГГц. У першій хвилі 802.11ac передбачено 23 канали, розділені на 4 групи: UNII-1, UNII-2, UNII-2 Extend і UNII-3.

Практично більшість маршрутизаторів, особливо початкового рівня підтримують тільки 4 канали по 20 МГц кожен з блоку UNII-1. Якщо ви думаєте, що серед топових рішень все добре, змушені вас засмутити, навіть такий дорогий маршрутизатор як RT-AC66U на штатній прошивці підтримує тільки 4 нижні канали. Більш нові і/або дорогі рішення на додаток до UNII-1 підтримують UNII-3. При цьому, багато пристроїв взагалі не мають підтримки розширеного UNII-2, для якого доступний DFS.

Другою істотною відмінністю є підтримка MU-MIMO для Downstream. Розрахований на багато користувачів MIMO дозволяє точці доступу працювати на 100% своїх можливостей.

У випадку з Google WiFi підтримується MIMO 2х2, тобто по два канали на прийом і передачу. Якщо у вас є 2 клієнта з підтримкою 802.11ac Wave 2, кожен з яких оснащений 1 каналом передачі (SISO), точка доступу зможе обслуговувати цих клієнтів одночасно. Для порівняння, раніше точка доступу обслуговувала клієнтів по черзі. Уявіть ситуацію, у вас є роутер на 3-4 канали, але клієнти підтримують тільки 1 або 2. Під час обслуговування слабких клієнтів, велика частина ресурсів АР залишається незадіяними. Як результат - падає вся продуктивність мережі.

Є тут правда і нюанс, для роботи MU-MIMO необхідно, щоб технологію підтримувала як точка доступу, так і всі підключені клієнти.

Третя відмінність полягає в підтримці Beamforming, тобто точка доступу здатна змінювати свою діаграму спрямованості, оптимізуючи її під конкретного клієнта.

Аргумент третій: підтримка Dual-band. Всі пристрої є дводіапазонними, тому можуть одночасно працювати як із застарілими клієнтами (802.11a/b/g/n), так і з сучасними (802.11ac). Підтримка двох діапазонів збільшує ємність мережі і кількість можливих підключень.

Аргумент четвертий: підтримка MESH. Це, мабуть, основне, що відрізняє Google WiFi від інших подібних рішень. Технологія Mesh зумовлена стандартом 802.11s. Суть Wireless Mesh зводиться до того, що вузли можуть організовувати між собою мережу, використовуючи бездротову мережу для реалізації Uplink. Подібна технологія застосовується в більш старих UniFi AP, нових UniFi Mesh і пристроях AmpliFi.

Для звичайного користувача це виглядає приблизно так само, як використання бездротового ретранслятора (повторювача). При цьому настройка Mesh в Google WiFi проходить практично без участі користувача і система працює на порядок стабільныше ніж звичайні ретранслятори. Практична реалізація Mesh в цьому пристрої здалася нам більш стабільною і передбачуваною, ніж в AmpliFi.

Причому в Google WiFi використовується модуль TPM (Trusted Platform Module) – Infineon SLB 9615 являє собою окремий кріптопроцессор. Таким чином, реалізація Mesh тут не тільки програмна, а й апаратна з підвищеним рівнем безпеки.

Аргумент п'ятий: наявність 2-х гігабітних портів в кожному пристрої. З одного боку, 2 порти не так і багато, на головному блоці один доведеться використовувати як WAN, другий, в разі необхідності, можна використовувати для підключення будь-якого пристрою або додаткового комутатора.

Далі починається найцікавіше. На додаткових пристроях в Mesh-режимі використовується режим прозорого моста (Bridge), а це означає, що обидва мережевих інтерфейси працюють в режимі LAN і можуть бути використані для підключення абсолютно будь-яких пристроїв. Наприклад, на час тесту на одній точці до гігабітного порту ми підключили ПК на один із портів, а на другий – Smart TV. При цьому немає потреби тягнути кабель, не потрібно використовувати додатковий бездротовий адаптер.

Складно переоцінити цю опцію, безліч власників AmpliFi просять від Ubiquiti реалізувати таку можливість в нових версіях. Це дійсно дуже зручно.

Аргумент шостий: хмарне управління. Система Google WiFi прив'язується до вашого Google-аккаунту. Через мобільний додаток ви можете управляти мережею з будь-якої точки світу. Для керування пристроями частково використовується вбудований модуль Bluetooth.

Аргумент сьомий: підтримка гостьової мережі, шейпінг на основі групових політик і підтримка елементів Smart Home. Більш докладно про ці функції ми поговоримо в другій частині статті (яка доступна по посиланню нижче).

Такий підхід вже давно став фірмовим стилем для таких брендів як Ubiquiti і Xiaomi. На коробці використовується мінімальна кількість поліграфії, немає ні повнорозмірних фото, сам логотип компанії і той невеликих розмірів. У всьому мінімалізм, який додає якусь інтригу при розпакуванні.

Відразу під ними заховані три окремі коробочки, в кожній з яких знаходиться по одному адаптеру. У першій коробці додатково є патчкорд.

Повний комплект поставки зображений на верхньому фото. Інструкція виконана у вигляді двох окремих карток, які приклеєні до коробок з адаптерами.

Як ви вже напевно помітили, мережеві адаптери поставляються з нестандартним штекером, благо перехідники зараз не проблема. У майбутньому можна очікувати версію для Європи, яка буде поставлятися з євроштекером.

Самі ж адаптери виготовлені в Китаї компанією Salcomp, підтримують широкий вхідний діапазон від 100 до 240 вольт, що робить їх універсальними і придатними для практично будь-яких електромереж. На виході адаптери забезпечують напругу 5 вольт з струмом до 3 ампер, що відповідає максимальному енергоспоживанню Google Wi-Fi.

З протилежного боку нас чекає коннектор USB Type C. Самі кабелі мають пристойну довжину і софттач-покриття.

Комплектний кабель Ethernet плоский, без екранування. Виконаний він у все тому ж білому кольорі і має софт-покриття.

Точки доступу, що є за сумісництвом маршрутизаторами, виконані в мінімалістичному стилі. На верхню панель нанесений ледве видимий логотип Google у вигляді літери «G» сірого відтінку.

По колу пристрою є невелике поглиблення, яке виконує роль LED-індикації. На одній зі сторін індикація переривається функціональною клавішею.

До слова про індикацію. При включенні «Неприв'язаний» пристрій буде мати синій колір, в момент ініціалізації синій індикатор почне пульсацію, як тільки система завантажиться індикатор змінить свій колір на білий (основний). Яскравість індикації можна регулювати, що дуже радує.

На нижній панелі в поглибленні заховані 2 гігабітні порти і гніздо для підключення живлення. За замовчуванням, в пристрої, обраному в якості основного, перший порт призначається як WAN, другий порт – як LAN-порт.

Для периферійних пристроїв обидва порти працюють в режимі прозорого мосту, що істотно розширює можливості системи. При наявності технологічного отвору на робочому столі, кабелі від пристрою можна і зовсім заховати.

Недолік всього один – відсутність можливості повісити пристрій на стіну.

На столі Google Wi-Fi виглядає дуже гармонійно, більшість з ваших гостей навіть не відразу зрозуміють що це за пристрій. Всі антени внутрішні і цього боятися зовсім не варто, тому що якість і рівень покриття системи може дати фору кращим рішенням на ринку.
