EdgePoint - це серія сучасних всепогодніх комутаторів, універсальність яких дозволяє використовувати їх в якості різних пристроїв. Тепер користувачам зовсім не обов'язково ставити велику комутаційну шафу, куди входить модем, маршрутизатор і блок електроживлення. Все це обладнання успішно замінює компактний прилад - EdgePoint.

Характеристика моделей

Серія EdgePoint включає 3 моделі:

1. EdgePoint-R6.
2. EdgePoint-R8.
3. EdgePoint-S16.

Опис EdgePoint-R6

Приладу EdgePoint-R6 характерні найпростіші технічні параметри. Він має рівень Layer 23, обладнаний 5-ма портами Ethernet (1 Гб), які підтримують PoE 24, і єдиним портом SFP, використовуваним для під'єднання комутатора до оптоволокна.

Технічна "начинка" представлена процесором на 880 МГц, оперативною пам'яттю - 256 Мб. Ці показники дозволяють оперативно обробляти трафік при збільшеною завантаженості мережі, коли відбувається обмін даних.

Опис EdgePoint-R8

Наступна модель - EdgePoint-R8, є представником того ж рівня Layer 3, але її можливості покращені. Комутатор має вже 6 портів Ethernet, за якими можна подавати електрику на інше обладнання, наприклад, станції AirFiber. Електроживлення лунає від портів 1 і 2 - по 24V і 54V кожен.

Решта портів мають стандартний функціонал забезпечення електрикою - PoE 24v. Також, дана модель обладнана PoE In, портами SFP, використовуваними для під'єднання до оптоволокна.

Комутатор EdgePoint-R8 має в корпусі 2-хядерний процесор на 600 MHz, оперативна пам'ять - 2 Гб. Це значно більше, ніж у попередній моделі, тому забезпечується стабільне функціонування обладнання при найбільших мережевих навантаженнях, попереджаючи характерні помилки.

Опис EdgePoint-S16

Остання модель - EdgePoint-S16, функціонує за стандартом Layer 2, але доступні деякі функції з Layer 3. Кількість портів Ethernet - 16 штук, всі вони підтримують PoE. Перші 4 порти функціонують з напругою 24V або 54V, тому даний пристрій може застосовуватися для подачі електричного живлення на обладнання AirFiber.

Щоб підключатися до оптоволокна, призначені 4 порти SFP. 2 з них характеризуються підтримкою SFP+, що збільшує пропускну здатність до 10 Гбіт/с. Комутатор має процесор 400 МГц і оперативну пам'ять 256 Мб. Так як пристрій функціонує на рівні Layer 2, то даних показників достатньо для стабільної діяльності комутатора при солідних навантаженнях. Крім того, на корпусі доступні світлодіодні індикатори, що відображають активність портів.

Загальна характеристика всіх пристроїв EdgePoint - це надійний і міцний корпус, який не пропускає вологу і пил зовні. Це забезпечує стабільне функціонування комутаторів при будь-яких умовах, в тому числі при температурі від -20 до +65 градусів. Їх можна розміщувати під відкритим небом, організовуючи електроживлення і підключення до мережі інших бездротових пристроїв.
